Dear Friends,
A new season approaches and I know many of us are looking forward to cooler weather and football on the weekends. We are also fast approaching our 100-year celebration of ministry on September 17. Bishop Cole will be with us and of course, we will pray, sing, and eat some cake. The celebration will continue throughout the year as we tell stories of our past and live into the present.
These new seasons are somewhat familiar and also different. Many of you have commented on how much you have enjoyed the intimacy of worshiping in the parish hall. It has been lovely. Moving back into the nave will have a different nuance even though we will be using the same liturgy. We can learn and grow as we experience those differences. I look forward to where the Spirit will take us.
I am sad to report that the chairs for the nave have been delayed. All reports were that everything was on schedule for delivery this week. Then we got word that there was a delay. Even so, we will be back in the nave for worship on September 10, and our celebration will carry on. Please note that this means that the seating we will use is not a permanent solution. The chairs are on order and should be here in October. That will be another occasion to celebrate.
We have had reason to celebrate the lives of dear friends lately. Our parish has experienced the unexpected deaths of a few friends. I am grateful for the support of so many of you who come together to care for each other in grief. That care is a powerful ministry. Thank you.
Celebrate the season! Celebrate the ministry of St. James! Give thanks for all the ways God is revealed to us.
Peace,
Fr. John Mark
