DART TRAINING - This past week The Rev. John Mark Wiggers, Mark Abell, Carol Yates, Margaret Bickley, and 14 other Justice Knox team leaders attended via Zoom the 4-day DART (Direct Action and Research Training) Center Justice Ministry Conference. At the conference, these justice ministry team leaders reviewed our prophetic call to do justice and received training in conducting House Meetings. It was an invigorating time to meet with 400 folks from several DART sister organizations in other cities where justice work is being done.
St. James has been involved in Justice Knox since community organizing began in 2016. In September, we will start our 6th year of House Meetings where we will gather in groups of 8-10, in person or via Zoom, to spend approximately 90 minutes of sacred time and conversation. Our St. James team leaders will be inviting folks to attend one of these House Meetings and look forward to meeting with you!
Justice Knox is recreating Knoxville as a "city of God" by bringing justice to our community through the police and sheriff departments adopting Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and by the city mayor and council creating an affordable housing trust fund. We look forward to seeing other ways that justice can be brought to our community so that all of us may live more equitably.
