Dear Friends,
What a glorious Easter we celebrated at St. James. It was so great to see friends we haven't seen for two years now. Many thanks to everyone who made Holy Week and Easter special for us all. It is still Easter! We celebrate the Great 50 Days as we move toward Ascension and Pentecost.
For so many people it was being together that made worship so special. We will be looking at ways to come together. We are remembering our ways of doing things and hoping to make some things better.
In some ways, we are experiencing a resurrection as we emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic. We will leave some things behind, and we might not recognize some ways of doing things. That is true of the church and the world. I pray that we can celebrate life among us.
I also hope everyone will emerge on May 2 and bring more than 3 friends to World's Fair Park at 7:00 PM for the Justice Knox Nehemiah Action. Your presence matters as it demonstrates to community leaders that we have a large number of people committed to seeing greater justice in our city. See the announcement in this email for more details.
I am grateful to celebrate the resurrection with you. Our faith calls us to proclaim that God brings life even out of death. There is no situation in which there is no hope. Look for the life and hope around you. Share that hope with others.
Happy Easter,
Fr. John Mark
