Friends and Neighbors,
We are approaching the end of the church year. I hope that as Thanksgiving and Advent approach we can all prepare ourselves for the anxiety so common in this time. Yes, your priest is telling you to take time to pray, be still, and center yourself. From a centered place, we are better prepared to respond rather than react. Even a deep breath can calm us when that comment at the dinner table annoys us or we feel the rush of seasonal obligations.
We have many opportunities to pray together. This Saturday is the 4th Saturday Labyrinth Walk from 10 am - 2 pm. You can drop in and walk and you can click here to sign-up to be a host to welcome others coming to walk. There will also be pancakes from 10 am - noon this Saturday. This Sunday is known as "Christ the King" Sunday as it celebrates that at the end of all things - Christ is King. Stick around after church for the ECW Marketplace where several crafty and artsy folks will be selling their wares.
I am grateful for this community that connects me to my faith through the silence, tradition, and worship. I am also delighted that St. James spurs us on to come together for connection, service, and doing justice. Thank you for your financial gifts that help us accomplish this work. If you haven't made a pledge for 2025, please do so as your intention helps us plan for the future. I see that future as a community continuing to pray together and serve the world with the love of Christ.
Peace,
Fr. John Mark
