Dear Friends,
We have adapted well to having our Sunday worship services in the parish hall. I appreciate how a change of setting allows us to see a familiar service in a different way. I know that I am conscious of being closer together so we see more of what is happening at the altar and we see each other. I look forward to all the ways that our renovation will open up more space and accessibility so that we see in different ways.
We will change things up on Sunday, June 4 as we will have a potluck following the 10:30 service. Please bring a dish to share with others. You might find yourself sitting around a table for Eucharist. This will be yet another way to see each other as we break bread in the Eucharist and in the meal that follows.
This month we continue to pray, study, and serve together. We don't close down the church for the summer. Mark your calendars for June 12 when Justice Knox will have its annual celebration at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. I look forward to being able to have more gatherings at St. James with our partners in ministry. Keep praying, working together, and giving to support ministry at St. James.
May we all know God's presence as we serve Christ in each other.
Peace,
Fr. John Mark
