St. James Inaugural Pumpkin Patch
On a crisp autumn morning, as the remnants of Hurricane Helene blew through, a group of 33 volunteers gathered at St. James to form the inaugural Pumpkin Brigade. Their mission? To unload a delivery of hundreds of speciality pumpkins, and 884 large bulk pumpkins from Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser.
The pumpkin delivery will be a beloved tradition at St. James, providing pumpkins for the our annual Neighbor Day Fall Festival fundraiser for the St. James community outreach programs. That's where the Pumpkin Brigade comes in.
Armed with carts, their own hands, arms and backs, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm, the volunteers descended upon the church's outside Peace Labyrinth to eagerly tackle the pumpkin mountain. The air was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the occasional "Oof!" as someone lifted a particularly large gourd.
In just 2½ hours, the Pumpkin Brigade transformed both sides of the Peace Labyrinth and the Children's Playground into a pumpkin maze, successfully unloading all of the pumpkins and distributing them to their designated locations. The volunteers' hard work and dedication ensured that the church's fall festival would be a pumpkin-filled success.
We wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible efforts in assisting with the pumpkin delivery, especially on such a miserable weather day. Your dedication and willingness to brave the elements to ensure our pumpkins arrived at St. James is nothing short of commendable. It’s individuals like you who embody the spirit of St. James Episcopal Church, making a significant difference in our community. Your contributions reflect our mission of nurturing and engaging with both our members and the broader community, and for that, we are truly thankful. Thank you once again for your time, energy, and unwavering commitment.
