Alleluia! Christ is Risen! Yes, the Easter season continues. Thank you to everyone who made our Easter day celebration glorious. I hope you all know that many people put in time and effort to make that day special. Our worship during Eastertide has been right glorious as well. I am especially thankful that our musicians let me join in with my drums. We celebrate Christ overcoming death as we live in a world where many are caught in fear and hopelessness. We don’t gloss over the pain and struggle. We declare that God is with us and that death is not the end. In Christ, there is life on the other side of death.
I am thankful also for the ways we express hope as a community. Justice Knox had 1211 people present for our Nehemiah Action! St. James was a big part of that. We have also continued many ministries even in the midst of renovation. Taking on the renovation is a witness to hope as well. We are declaring our intention to keep doing ministry in this place. Things are changing fast. We will be moving Sunday worship to the parish hall sometime this month. Look for notice of this and come with open hearts to praying in a different space.
I know that many of you come to St. James with your stories of resurrection. Some of you have known great loss and found that loss to be something that deepened your compassion for others. We have a few folks who have found faith again after having felt rejected by the church. Many of us knew a very individual faith and have come out of that grave to see that Christ connects us all to each other. I hope that we can share our stories and be a place that brings life to others. May we practice resurrection daily.
