Christian Formation for Children
Church School Offerings
· Nursery
The nursery was recently painted and we hope this makes a more inviting place to visit. We will be implementing a new sign in sheet when you drop off your child. So please be sure to sign in even if you have been with us before. The nursery is available during Sunday mornings beginning at 9:15 and during other special church events. You can contact the church office to schedule the nursery for any extra events. It is also available during Fellowship dinner, lunch bunch and Alpha. The nursery is open to children from birth to age 4 but during extra events older children may attend. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Megan Alden (Coordinator, Nursery and Children's Chapel Programs) at any time to discuss them.
· Little Lambs
Little Lambs is designed for children ages 2-4. You will check them in at the nursery on the sign in sheet then they will be in the room right next door to the nursery. The time for this class is 9:15 to 10:15 on Sunday mornings from September to May. The class is a beginning step to learning church words and phrases, learning to sit for short periods of time and preparing for other classes as they get older. There will be stories, puppets, music and a snack.
· Godly Play (not offered in 2007-08)
The Godly Play class is geared toward children in kindergarten and mature pre-schoolers as it requires children to sit and focus for longer periods of time than does our nursery program. It is taught by a team of trained Godly Play teachers.
· Children's Chapel
Children's Chapel also underwent changes this year. The teachers and assistants paired off into teams that work together on the same week each month. For example, one team works every first Sunday of the month and so on throughout the month. Plus, each team chose a specific activity to perform after the story section is finished. The first week of each month is art, the second is free choice, the third is music and the last Sunday is group projects. The children always know who their teachers will be and what they will be doing by what Sunday it is. And computers were added to help with the learning of the stories. All of it is a way to help children better understand what they are learning.
· Elementary Disciples
This is the class for children in grades one through five. The goal for our elementary disciples is to deepen their knowledge of important Bible stories and people and thus reinforce that God loves all God’s people. In the years they spend in this program, the students should leave with a broad understanding of the message found in the Bible, which will prepare them for confirmation and for delving deeper into the Christian life.
